Microphone Switchbox

After getting my radios set up, I started thinking about how I wanted to manage the microphones for 3-4 radios.  I really like my Turner +3 Mic for talking, being that its a nice desktop Mic.  I really wanted to be able to just use that on all my radios without having to move it from one to the next.

Looking around I found this nice little push button switchbox, for RJ45 connections.  At the nice low price of $15, I promply ordered one.

Upon arrival, the first thing I did was take the cover off and checked out the inside.  The entire setup is all done on a circuit board.  Several reviews stated that it worked fine for 10/100 network usage, so I figured it would work fine for audio as well.

I hooked it up, microphone in, and out to each of my radios.  I used standard 3' CAT5e patch cords to the r

adios.  No complaints so far!  Seems to work great, and doesnt pick up any stray noise.  I even tested it using the Echolink test server, so I could hear the audio output through it as well.

I am very happy with the concept!  It even allows me to disable the use of the Mic all together by partially pushing any of the 'off' buttons, releasing the one thats on.

After having it for a bit, I am considering getting a 2 port as well, so that I can choose between Mic and Programming cable (since all my radios use the same cable).  The only downfall I see here, is i wont be able to program 1 radio while talking on the other.  This concept is still up in the air, not sure how much programming I really will do in the end...
